The Humanist Movement

The Humanist Movement is an organisation, which is active in more than 120 countries of the world. Humanism means to us: Placing the human being at the centre - not money or personal profit. We want to create a universal human nation, diverse in its cultures, but with the same rights and the same possibilities for everyone!

Today we can see the world in a deep crisis, a social, political, economical and human crisis. At the beginning of the 3rd millennium there seems to be a regression in primitive conditions, which we thought to have long left behind us: unemployment, poverty, hunger, racism, war, man against man. But there will be no solutions offered from the established groups of society - as they are partly responsible for this situation.

Today we witness the world uniting towards a planetary civilisation. The technical advances could already easily guarantee the survival of all mankind. On the other hand men as well developed: many people are dissatisfied with the old systems and societies. They don't accept, to be promised freedom, democracy, social security etc. ONLY in the future. They want to build up something new now!

We want to direct the huge changes of today, which are moving the world, into a humanist direction:

  • To place the HUMAN BEING as the central value

  • To allow everyone to receive an adequate health-care and education for free

  • To create a fair economy, where human being reigns the capital not vice versa.

  • To acknowledge the diversity of human beings and cultures, but working for their equal rights and possibilities.

  • To aspire to overcome each kind of violence.

The Change

The necessary changes of today's world as well as our activities are basing on the power of the simple people. We act local, in our neighbourhoods, universities and schools and in our workplaces. We begin with our own lives, trying to act in inner unity,

  • thinking, feeling and acting in the same direction
  • and in our environments, treating others as we want to be treated ourself.

We help other people but do not expect something in return or make them depend on our help, but we help them to help others – to open their hearts for that new solidarity.

How sad a fountain must be, if there will be no one drinking of it?

So, this change starts little, but it is taking a revolutionary direction.

The Action-Fronts

Hundreds of thousands of active people within the Humanist Movement are working voluntarily to solve the conflicts in their neighbourhoods, in their universities, at their workplaces, they fight for equal rights of the minorities, they are active in a new way of politics, or they are making a grassrootswork to improve the situation of education and healthcare in their countries.

We work in a world-wide network, organised in base-groups of 10 and more people, acting locally within a global strategy. The Humanist Movement is not a help-organisation. We are not sponsored by any institutions, nor are any members paid for their activism.
